Changing Text Size
The two most widely used browsers are Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. Use the following steps to change the text size for each of these browsers.
In Internet Explorer (5.0 and above):
- From Tools on the main toolbar, choose Internet Options
- Under the General tab, choose the Accessibility button
- Check the box in front of "Ignore font sizes specified in Web pages"
- Choose OK
Further adjustments can be made to the text size by choosing View on the main toolbar, then Text Size. Choose a relative text size (smallest to largest).
In Netscape Navigator:
- From Edit on the main toolbar, choose Preferences
- From the left tree menu, choose Appearance, then Fonts
- Check the radio button in front of "Use my default fonts, overriding
document-specified fonts"
- Choose OK
Further adjustments can be made to the text size by choosing View on the main toolbar, then selecting Increase Font or Decrease Font.

Making Other Browser Adjustments
You can specify the text style and color as well as the background color you prefer when using Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.

Using AOL Browser
The MRDP Website works best when you use full-featured browsers such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. If you use AOL, please follow these steps:
- Sign on to your AOL account
- While you are still signed on, minimize your AOL browser window
- Open Netscape or Internet Explorer
- Type or paste the MRDP URL (http://63.107.122.191) into the browser's address field

Enabling/Disabling JavaScripting
This web site utilizes Java Script to operate the left navigation menu. However if Java Scripting is turned off, the menu functions normally, however the user is not given a visual cue when their mouse passes over a button. To check and see if your browser has Java Script enabled or disabled, please follow the instructions below for your browser version and operating system.
Windows
- From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options... .
- Click the Security tab.
- In versions 5.x and 6, click Custom Level... . In version 4.x, click Custom and then Settings:
JavaScript: Scroll to the "Active scripting" section of the list. (In version 6, this is under "Scripting".) Click Disable or Enable.
- Close and restart your browser.
Netscape 7.x
- From the Edit menu, (in Mac OS X, from the Netscape menu), choose Preferences... .
- In the "Category:" list at the left of the screen, click Advanced.
- To enable or disable Java and JavaScript, use the appropriate instructions below:
- To enable or disable JavaScript, check or uncheck Enable JavaScript for Navigator, and Enable JavaScript for Mail & Newsgroups.
- Click OK to save the changes. You may need to exit and restart your browser to allow the changes to take effect.
Netscape Communicator and Navigator 4.x or Netscape 6.x
- From the Edit menu, choose Preferences... .
- In the "Category:" list at the left of the screen, click Advanced.
- In Netscape 6.x, mark or unmark the checkboxes for Enable Java, Enable JavaScript for Navigator, and Enable JavaScript for Mail & Newsgroups.
In Netscape 4.x, mark or unmark the Enable Java and Enable JavaScript checkboxes.
- Click OK to save the changes. You may need to exit and restart your browser to allow the changes to take effect
Mac OS
Internet Explorer
- From the Explorer menu (Mac OS X) or the Edit menu, select Preferences... .
- To expand the list, next to Web Browser, click the triangle.
- Select Web Content. On the right, beneath "Active Content", select the checkbox for Enable scripting.
- Return to beneath Web Browser and select Java. On the right, under "Java Options", select the checkbox for Enable Java or Enable Java (Apple MRJ).
- Click OK, then close and restart your browser
Netscape Navigator
- In Mac OS X select the "Category" column on the left, click the triangle next to "Advanced" to expand the list, then select Scripts & Plugins. On the right, under "Enable JavaScript for", check or uncheck Navigator and Mail & Newsgroups, as appropriate.

Updating your Browser
Certain web pages are best viewed by using recent versions of Internet browsers. If you are using an older browser version, you may have trouble viewing certain webpages.
You can find out what version of your browser you are using by choosing "Help" at the top of your browser and "About (your browser)".
Internet Explorer: You can download a more recent version for free at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/v.
Netscape Communicator: You can download a more recent version for free at http://home.netscape.com/computing/download.

Portable Document Format (PDF) files preserve all the fonts, formatting, graphics, and color of a printed document once it is placed on a website. Several documents on the NEI Website are provided in PDF format.
PDF files require the free Adobe® Acrobat Reader software for viewing. If you have a visual impairment, please visit access.adobe.com for help in working more effectively
with PDF files.
